Highlightr saves the passages you choose, on your own device, by default. Nothing is shared publicly. If you create an account to sync across devices, your saves and your email are stored privately in Highlightr’s database, accessible only to you. Highlightr does not sell data, run ads, or track the pages you browse — only what you explicitly choose to save.
By default, Highlightr requires no account. When you save a passage, the extension stores the excerpt, any note or topics you add, the source page’s URL/domain/title/author/ publish date where available, and the date you saved it — in your browser’s local storage only. This never leaves your device unless you sign in or export it yourself. Highlightr does not collect your general browsing history, only pages where you actively save something.
Signing in is optional. If you create a Highlightr account, your email and password are sent to our authentication provider, Supabase, to create and verify your account — Highlightr does not store your password itself. Saves you make while signed in are also stored in Highlightr’s database (hosted on Supabase), tied to your account, so they’re reachable from this web app. Everything synced this way stays private — there is no public profile, feed, or sharing feature.
Does not sell or rent your data. Does not show ads or use advertising trackers. Does not build a profile of pages you visit beyond what you explicitly save. Does not share your saves publicly.
Export everything as JSON or clear all local saves from the extension’s Settings at any time. Sign out to stop new saves from syncing. To delete your account and its data from our database entirely, contact us below.
Highlightr uses Supabase to provide optional account sign-in and cross-device sync. Supabase processes this data on Highlightr’s behalf and does not use it for its own purposes. No other third party receives your data.
Highlightr is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
